"Well, there's no point in dying now, when I've lived this long, is there?"
Now that the COVID-19 vaccine is doing the rounds over in the UK, many elderly patients have signed up to be the first people to receive it. But we didn't know just how easy it was...
If wholesome interviews are your type of thing, then get 91-year-old Martin Kenyon on your screens immediately. His post-vaccine interview has been doing the rounds online because he is such a delight.
Literally stopped on the street by a CNN reporter, who was chancing asking Martin whether he had had the vaccine, it turns out that Martin had quite the epic tale to tell of his hospital afternoon adventures.
Martin tells the reporter quite bluntly about his experience: "I rang up Guy's Hospital, which I know very well because I've lived in London most of my grown-up life, and I said 'What's this thing, you're doing the vaccination'? They said, 'Yes.' And then they spent time asking me questions about this and that, not very interesting. And I said, 'Yes, no, yes, no.' And they said, 'Well, come at 12'."
Following "a rather nasty lunch" and some trouble with parking, Martin said that the vaccine was rather painless, remarking he "didn’t know the needle had gone in until it had come out".
The 91-year-old then turned his attention to his family, saying that all he wants to do is give his grandaughters a hug for Christmas.
Finally, Martin was given an appointment for the follow-up jab in 10 days time. Upon producing his reminder card, he told that reporter is was all "very unexciting".
He then dropped this sweet little remark: "Well, there's no point in dying now, when I've lived this long, is there? I don't plan to anyway."
Martin, keep on spreading that affable nature of yours.
