They're taking the hobbits to... the studio!
Hobbits Merry and Pippin are embarking on a new adventure for fans of the J.R.R. Tolkien literature and Peter Jackson movies.
Fancy heading back to Middle Earth? Of course you do. While we wait for the multi-million dollar Amazon Prime series to hit our screens, we've got another form of the franchise to look forward to - a 'Lord of the Rings' podcast.
According to Deadline, two stars from the Peter Jackson movies, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, will be helming the podcast series.
Named 'The Friendship Onion', Dominic and Billy will be siting down to chat everything about the hit franchise that they starred in - most likely recording it between their first and second breakfasts.
Both actors were catapulted into stardom for playing the roles of inseparable (that moment still gets us) Hobbits Merry and Pippin. The pair promise to bring plenty of wit, knowledge and behind the scenes stories from filming down in New Zealand between 1999 and 2003.
Dominic and Billy, like their on-screen counterparts, have remained close friends ever since filming the movie franchise. According to the synopsis on the 'Lord of the Rings' podcast, the pair will "peel back the layers of their friendship, both on screen and off". More excitingly, other stars from the franchise are expected to make guest appearances.
Here's the charming teaser trailer of the podcast, showing off what hijinks we can expect from the German/English and Scottish actors. And no, don't worry, it's not a Zoom-call podcast.
The first episode of 'The Friendship Onion' will premiere on Spotify and Apple Podcasts on May 18.
