'Talking Ted' is in the works
There's a brand new podcast on the way, based on everyone's favourite clerical comedy series.
Hosted by Joe Rooney and Patrick McDonnell, 'Talking Ted' will be a new 'Father Ted' podcast that will take a hilarious look back at all of the episodes of the series.
Rooney is famous for playing the part of too-cool-for-mass Father Damo, while McDonnell caused a ruckus on Craggy Island when he paid a visit to Mrs. Doyle (Pauline McLynn) as the TV presenter Eoin McLove. The pair will host the new podcast, providing fans with a glimpse behind the scenes of the classic Irish sitcom.
They will be joined by special guests from the show throughout their journeys through all 25 episodes, sharing their fondest memories and insight from the three series that ran from 1995 to 1998.
Some of the guests lined up to make appearances include Ardal O’Hanlon and D'Umbeliveables pairing Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny. There will also be the likes of Rosemary Henderson, who played hard-as-nails Sister Assumpta; Jim Norton who played fan-favourite Bishop Brennan; Gerard McSorley as Golden Cleric-stealing Todd Unctious; and of course Maurice O'Donoghue, who played Ted's rival on Rugged Island, Father Dick Byrne.
Plus, that's not all that the 'Talking Ted' podcast has in store for fans. Original 'Father Ted' theme song creator (and writer of the 'Eurovision dud 'My Lovely Horse'), Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, has composed a new original theme song, especially for the podcast.
Joe Rooney and Patrick McDonnell both made appearances this past weekend at 'TedFest' on Inis Mór. It was the first time the festival went ahead since the beginning of 2020.
The 'Father Ted' podcast will be created by the HeadStuff Podcast Network in Dublin, and will arrive later this year. You can subscribe to the podcast wherever you have a subscription - ah, go on!
