February is shaping up to be a great month for Netflix

A whole heap of shows are coming to Netflix this weekend so you might just want to ditch going out and stay in instead.

Among the Netflix original content on offer from this weekend  is 'Russian Doll', 'Nightflyers' and 'Velvet Buzzsaw'.

Russian Doll

'Orange is the New Black' star Natasha Lyonne created and stars in 'Russian Doll'.

According to the synopsis, it follows: "a young woman named Nadia on her journey as the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City. She dies repeatedly while at this party and she is just trying to figure out what the hell is going on."

The comedy series is like a dark 'Groundhog Day' and has been getting some good early hype already.

Nightflyers

'Nightflyers' was shot in Ireland and features numerous Irish stars.

The sci fi series stars Brian F. O'Byrne and Eoin Macken as two members of a team of scientists journeying through the solar system aboard The Nightflyer. They hope to make contact with alien life. However, terrifying and violent events begin to take place. Thus they start to question each other's motives...

George R. R. Martin ('Game of Thrones') penned the source material. The 10-episode series also stars the likes of Gretchen Mol ('Boardwalk Empire'), David Ajala ('Fast & Furious 6'), Sam Strike ('EastEnders'), Angus Sampson ('Fargo') and Jodie Turner-Smith ('The Last Ship').

American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Another series Netflix viewers might want to binge on this weekend is 'American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace'.

The multi award-winning series explores the murder of designer Gianni Versace by spree killer Andrew Cunanan.

It stars Édgar Ramírez, Darren Criss, Ricky Martin, and Penélope Cruz. Criss won an Emmy and Golden Globe for his performance as Cunanan.

Velvet Buzzsaw

Netflix is clearly a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal with 'Nightcrawler', 'Prisoners', 'Nocturnal Animals' and 'Stronger', among others, already available on the service. Having previously starred in 'Okja', Gyllenhaal leads new Netflix movie 'Velvet Buzzsaw' (from 'Nightcrawler's Dan Gilroy). The intriguing synopsis on Netflix reads:

"A feared critic, an icy gallery owner and an ambitious assistant snap up a recently deceased artist's stash of paintings - with dire consequences."

Rene Russo, Toni Collette, Billy Magnussen, and John Malkovich co-star in the 'mind-bending thriller'.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Another movie arriving on Netflix today is 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'. The sequel to the 2009 film sees Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law return as Holmes and Watson. 'Sherlock Holmes' is already on the service so you can even have a double bill of the two.
