Another film skips cinemas
The latest movie starring Tom Hanks, 'News of the World', is skipping cinemas and going to Netflix.
The western drama sees Tom Hanks reunite with 'Captain Phillips' director Paul Greengrass.
'News of the World' was going to hit cinemas here in Ireland on New Year's Day, 2021.
However, Deadline reports that Universal has now sold the international distribution rights to Netflix.
In the US, the film will still release in cinemas on Christmas Day.
Paulette Jiles penned the book that 'News of the World' is based on. In it, Hanks plays Civil War veteran Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd.
While travelling around, he meets a 10-year-old girl named Johanna (Helena Zengel), who was taken from her family by the Kiowa people many years ago.
They travel hundreds of miles and brave many dangers in the hope of finding a place to call home.

Its international release date on Netflix is TBC.
