The fantasy series adds a number of actors to the franchise
The second season will see some recognisable faces join the cast.
Netflix has today announced some key roles which will be feature in the upcoming second part of the fantasy series. Here's who will be joining Henry Cavill in 'The Witcher' season two, including two actors from Netflix series 'Bridgerton'.
Adjoa Andoh, who starred as the straight-talking Lady Danbury in 'Bridgerton', will star in the role of Nenneke. A renowned stage actor, Adjoa has also been in 'Fractured' and 'Silent Witness' in the past.
Another 'Bridgerton' cast member also announced today is Chris Fulton, who played Sir Phillip Crane in the period drama. The actor has appeared in 'Succession' and 'Endeavour' in the past, and will play Rience in 'The Witcher' season two.
Also announced as some of the other fresh meat in the season will be Cassie Clare ('Brave New World') as Phillippa Eilhart; Liz Carr (Silent Witness') as Fenn; Graham McTavish ('The Hobbit') as Dijkstra; Kevin Doyle ('Downton Abbey') as Ba’lian; and Simon Callow ('A Room with A View') as Codringher.
They'll join Henry Cavill's Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan's Ciri, and Anya Chalotra's Yennefer. Kristofer Hivju (Thormund Giantsbane from 'Game of Thrones') was also previously announced, taking on the role of Nivellen.
Like many other productions, season two of the series was plagued with setbacks during 2020. The most recent one was main star Henry Cavill injuring his leg while performing a stunt on location. Production continued without the actor while he worked on his recovery.
No release date has yet been set for 'The Witcher' season two, but a planned spin-off prequel series is already in production. 'Blood Origin' will be helmed by Waterford director Declan de Barra for Netflix.
