Filming has starting in the UK
Production is underway just outside of London on the second season of Prime Video's fantasy powerhouse 'The Rings of Power'.
While the first season was filmed mostly in New Zealand, Amazon are taking a more economical approach this time around with the show now filming in the famous Bray Studios in Berkshire.
The news of filming follows the release of viewing figures last week. According to viewership figures released from Nielsen in the US, 'The Lord of the Rings' prequel series had 1.3 billion minutes viewed in its first week.
By comparison, the 'Game of Thrones' prequel 'House of the Dragon' came in at number five during the same time period with 781 million minutes.
While 'Rings of Power' made an astonishing start to its viewing numbers, it isn't the best ever for Prime. Earlier this year 'Reacher' had 1.84 billion minutes of viewing time for its opening weekend.
The series will have its second-to-last episode of its debut season next week. Following the Second Age of J.R.R Tolkien's universe, the show stars an ensemble cast including Robert Aramayo, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova and Markella Kavenagh.
The production has also announced that a new character, Círdan (not yet cast), one of the oldest and wisest of the elves, would be joining the ensemble.
Episode 7 of 'The Rings of Power' lands on Prime Video on Friday, October 7.
