What a cast lineup
Amazon Prime has revealed the stellar cast that will be making up their new thriller series 'The Rig'.
Amazon Prime's 'The Rig' has some of the best TV talent joining its cast, with stars from some of our favourite TV shows leading the series.
Emily Hampshire, who played Stevie in the hit Canadian comedy/drama series 'Schitt's Creek', will co-lead the series. She'll play the character of Rose Mason, a fresh-faced scientist and oil company rep.
Hampshire will share the screen with Scottish actor Iain Glen, best known for playing Ser Jorah Mormont in the HBO fantasy 'Game of Thrones'. Glen stars as Magnus MacMillan, the offshore installation manager and leader of the rig crew.
The two series leads will be joined by other notable stars from various other TV shows who will play members of the crew, with a number of other 'Line of Duty' stars in the midst. Martin Compston (Arnott in 'Line of Duty'), Owen Teale (Alliser Thorne in 'Game of Thrones'), Richard Pepple (the Duke of Hastings in 'Bridgerton'), Mark Bonnar (Dryden in 'Line of Duty'), Rochenda Sandall (McQueen in 'Line of Duty'), and Abraham Popoola (who will be in the upcoming 'Cruella' film from Disney) will all be part of the series.
'The Rig' is being billed as a thriller/drama set off the coast of Scotland on the Kinloch Bravo oil rig. The crew are due to return to the mainland when an eery fog lands upon the crew, which mysteriously cuts off all communication. The rig begins to experience unexplainable tremors and the crew must work together to solve what the hell is going on.
The series will begin shooting in Scotland at the end of March. This will be Amazon Prime's first series shot exclusively in Scotland, with principal filming to get underway on an actual oil rig, as well as and at FirstStage Studios in Edinburgh.
The six-part thriller will be directed by 'Bodyguard' and 'Line of Duty' director John Strickland. The sixth series of 'Line of Duty' wrapped filming last year and kicks off on BBC One this Sunday night.
