Fans of The Crown have been waiting some time for this casting news.
We have known since October that Olivia Colman would be taking the reins from Clare Foy as the queen in the third season of the hit Netflix show, and that Helena Bonham Carter would be taking over the role from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, but the role of the future Prince Philip remained up in their air.
There were rumours that Paul Bettany was in talks to take on the role, but apparently due to scheduling difficulties that didn't pan out, however they have picked a pretty great choice instead.
It will be a familiar face to many too as it's been confirmed that Outlander and Game of Thrones star Tobias Menzies will take on the role.
43-year-old British actor Menzies previously played Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones while he starred as Frank Randall/Jack Randall in Outlander. He has also appeared in Catastrophe, The Terror, The Night Manager, Rome and King Lear.
Season three of The Crown kicks off filming in the UK this summer.
