Blood, sex and supes - what else would you expect?
Amazon and the team behind the deliciously deranged superhero series were in a celebrating mood this past weekend. Sure, the trailer for the upcoming series made its debut last week, but some interesting statistics since its release have been the cause of their happiness.
Earlier last week before we all knocked off for our four-day weekend, the very NSFW trailer for the newest season of 'The Boys' dropped by to give us a blood-soaked tease of what to expect for season three.
As you would imagine if you know anything about the franchise, the trailer involved plenty of blood, gore, sex, (dancing?) and also featured plenty of footage revolving around what will certainly be another chaotic season; The Butcher (Karl Urban) seems to have been granted superpowers, meanwhile, there are many new faces joining the season, including Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy.
However, the aftermath of the trailer has seen it become one of the most talked-about videos over on YouTube and Twitter. The official Twitter account for series posted a very special announcement this past weekend, celebrating the video's "raving" reviews.
Tagged as "deeply unhinged" and "what the f*ck did we just watch?", some users weren't all that keen on what they saw. According to an infographic shared by the account, which also featured Karl Urban sipping a mug of tea, over 20 million people flagged the video for displaying inappropriate content.
Also included in the statistics was that Twitter Admins viewed the video over 603 times (a new record), while executive producer of the series Seth Rogen and 'Thor: Love and Thunder' director Taika Waititi were also namedropped for sh*ts and giggles too.
Season three of 'The Boys' will also star Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie and Claudia Doumit.
Spin-off animated series 'The Boys: Diabolical' launched at the beginning of March, made up of bite-sized anthology creations set in the world of supes, Vought Enterprises, and featuring plenty of carnage.
Here's the trailer for 'The Boys' once again, in case you missed it.
'The Boys' season three begins on Prime Video on Friday, June 3.
