Lots of movies and TV shows on Netflix for you to binge on this May
Month after month, Netflix hasn't let us down and the next few weeks are no different.
Netflix in May is jammers with TV and movie content. To help you navigate through all that's on offer, we've picked out the best of what's to come.
TV SERIES
The Society - 10 May
If you're a fan of 'Riverdale', 'The Society' should definitely tickle your fancy. We're getting a 'Lord of the Flies' vibe from its synopsis, which reads:
"When everyone else mysteriously vanished from their wealthy town, the teen residents of West Ham must forge their own society to survive."
The Rain - 17 May
Season two of Danish post-apocalyptic horror-drama 'The Rain' arrives at Netflix this month too. The show has proven to be a big hit with critics and audiences worldwide. It follows a group of young survivors' struggles after a virus that is carried by rainfall wipes out almost all humans in Scandinavia.
What/If - 24 May
Neo-noir social thriller 'What/If' explores the ripple effects of "what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things". The first season stars Renee Zellweger and focuses on a mysterious woman's lucrative, but dubious offer to a cash-strapped pair of San Francisco newlyweds.
When They See Us - 31 May
Having wowed us with 'Selma' and 'The 13th', people have high hopes for Ava DuVernay's series 'When They See Us'. It exposes the breakdown of the U.S. criminal justice system during the Central Park Five case of 1989. This is definitely going to be a hard hitter.
MOVIES
The Great Gatsby - 1 May
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby is something we could watch over and over so we're delighted to see 'The Great Gatsby' arrives on a platform where we can indulge in repeat viewing. The costumes and sets of Baz Luhrmann's feature are stunning and the music is divine.
Apologise in advance to all the people you're going to force to watch this with.
Snowpiercer - 1 May
If seeing Chris Evans on the big screen in 'Avengers: Endgame' isn't enough for you, he also leads this. Jamie Bell and Tilda Swinton co-star in the futuristic film in which a failed climate-change experiment kills all life apart from those aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels the globe. A new class system emerges.
The Wife - 13 May
Admit it. At last year's Oscars, you were all for Glenn Close winning Best Actress after being nominated so many times but you never actually bothered your hole to watch the movie she was nominated for, did you? DID YOU? Well, now you've no excuse because 'The Wife' is on Netflix from May 13th.
Shaun of the Dead - 16 May
Comedy. Classic. There's no two ways about it. And it's amazing to think the film just turned 15 years old.
'Shaun of the Dead' was key in inspiring further zombie comedies and it launched the careers of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It's been a go-to for many a movie night so Netflix is the perfect place for it.
Baby Driver - 27 May
'Shaun of the Dead' isn't the only Edgar Wright film coming to Netflix in May. It's joined by 'Baby Driver' and while it does feature the disgraced Kevin Spacey, it's such a phenomenal action-packed movie with a killer soundtrack that we can't not recommend it. Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Lily James and Jamie Foxx star.
