"Dang it, Katie!"
The movie formerly known as 'Connected' (but reverting back to its original title) will be a new addition to Netflix in the coming months.
Sony Pictures Animation has sold the rights of 'The Mitchells vs. The Machines' to streaming giant Netflix. The movie was originally set for release in theatres this year.
From the people who brought us the fantastic 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' and also 'The LEGO Movie' franchise, this is one exciting feature to look forward to.
The premise of the animation will probably hit home to a lot of parents out there. In a world where technology is taking over our lives (and our dinner tables), one family plans a cross-country road trip across America in order to drop their daughter to college - but in the meantime, robots begin an uprising against humans.
Featuring the voices of Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Olivia Colman, and 'Broad City' star Abbi Jacobson, expect this to reach the successful heights of 'Spider-Verse' with its cute, endearing approach to animation. We're getting serious Spider-Hamm vibes off of that hilarious little doggie of theirs.
The movie is produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with Mike Rianda and Jeff Rowe both onboard as co-director and co-writer. Lord and Miller are already working on a 'Spider-Verse' sequel, which is expected at the end of 2022. There were also some TV series potentially in the pipeline too.
Here's the trailer for 'The Mitchells vs. The Machines'. Expect Netflix to announce a concrete 2021 release date soon.
