'Sense8' meets 'Modern Love'?
We've finally been given our first glimpse of the new Amazon Prime series, which launches on the streaming service later this month.
Anthology series 'SOLOS' has been given the trailer treatment under two weeks out from its release. The seven-episode series features a diverse and Oscar-winning cast, all of whom are exploring the unusual and the beautiful experience of what it means to be human.
Recently, anthology series have become a way to feature shorter, stranger one-off glimpses of different aspects of life - both fiction and non-fiction. Oftentimes, the series will also feature a Hollywood actor or two popping up for an episode. 'Black Mirror' will be one of the first series that springs to mind when the word "anthology" is knocked around, but Amazon has been expanding their collection over the past few years.
'Modern Love' was one of their first, which is currently filming season two (with one episode in Ireland), while 'Soulmates' was another that released earlier this year.
'SOLOS' will star Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Anthony Mackie, Helen Mirren, Dan Stevens, Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, and Constance Wu.
The series was created by David Weil ('Hunters'), who also directs three episodes. Zach Braff and Tiffany Johnson also directed episodes, with Sam Taylor-Johnson as director and executive producer.
The synopsis of 'SOLOS' is as follows: "An anthology series that explores the strange, beautiful, heartbreaking, hilarious, wondrous truths of what it means to be human. Performed by eight of the finest actors of our time, this anthology series spans our present and future and grapples with time travel, A.I. bots, solo trips to the farthest reaches of the universe, scheming smart homes, a mysterious waiting room, near-future fertility treatments and illegal memory transplants, all to illuminate the deeper meaning of human connection. These character-driven stories contend that even during our most seemingly isolated moments, in the most disparate of circumstances, we are all connected through the human experience."

'SOLOS' arrives on Amazon Prime May 21.
