With 'Queer Eye' set to return to Netflix and make everyone feel feelings, this season will feature a first in the entire series - a transgender man receiving a makeover from the Fab Five.
In an interview with Mashable, Karamo Brown of the Fab Five believed the episode to be "one of the most powerful episodes that will ever be seen on TV," and described how so often the trans experience is told from trans women's perspectives. "We never really see our trans brothers being highlighted and showing their experience," Brown explained.
The episode details how Skyler began experimenting with drag in college before transitioning to his male self, and how that ultimately drove a wedge between him and his family.
Brown believes that the episode will be an eye-opening experience for everyone from all walks of life, especially for those who aren't all that aware of trans issues and how the experience can effect people. "I think that’s going to resonate with a lot of people who are in those small towns, or big metropolitan cities who are afraid to ask the questions but they’re scared to open up because they don’t want to be judged or seem ignorant," said Brown.
"I think it’s just going to be one of those powerful episodes that people are not only going to cry, but they’re going to learn and grow, and in 10 years we’re going to see a shift in the conversation with the little seed that Queer Eye planted."
'Queer Eye' returns to Netflix for its second season on June 15.
