We've got a Netflix Multiverse on our hands

The Archie Comics creations are finally about to have a crossover event - a year after Sabrina Spellman essentially killed herself.

It was rumoured to be happening when the rights to both of Archie Comics' 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' and 'Riverdale' were secured by Netflix - we just didn't think crossover was on the cards any longer.

Part one of season six of 'Riverdale' is already filmed, and they've added a new cast member - Kiernan Shipka. Shipka will be entering the town of 'Rvierdale' (which was mentioned a handful of times on 'CAOS') as a surprise guest star.

Speaking about the crossover event to TV Line, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who was a writer and producer for both series, said: "We've been talking about having Sabrina visit Riverdale since season one, so it's thrilling that this is finally happening, as part of our 'Rivervale' special event.

"It's also perfect that she shows up to help Cheryl Blossom during her hour of greatest need. Everyone on set lost their minds – I think fans will, too. It's really fun and special."

Shipka posted the news on her Instagram page, captioning her photo from the set with: "from Greendale to Riverdale [devil face emoji]

"See u in Season 6."

Season five of the teen thriller/drama wrapped up with its finale earlier this October, but season six is just around the corner. The first five episodes will premiere this November, with the remaining episodes set to air at a later date. The first five-episode event has been dubbed 'Rivervale'.

Just how big of a capacity Sabrina will appear in the 'Riverdale' crossover event remains to be seen. The new season's fourth episode, 'The Witching Hour(s)' will see the character appear to assist Cheryl with a dangerous spell. However, the last we saw of the teenage witch, she was dead and buried.

Now, to say we were pissed off underwhelmed by the series finale of 'CAOS' last year is an understatement. The fourth series was a bit of a mishmash of confusing themes and happenings, mostly revolving around Sabrina and her "evil" twin sister. A definite (and possibly only) highlight was seeing the return of Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea reprise their '90s versions of Sabrina's aunts, Hilda and Zelda, from 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch'.

The final episode of the saga saw Sabrina sacrificing herself to save the realm, later being joined by her on/off boyfriend Nick, who drowned himself in The Sea of Sorrows to be with her for all of eternity.

In case you're missing the '90s 'Sabrina The Teenage Witch', all seven seasons of the sitcom are available to stream on Amazon Prime.
