Where's that Marvel dart gun?
Is Jon Bernthal returning to Marvel? One former star of the Netflix/Marvel collaboration appears to think so.
Rosario Dawson, who first appeared in season one of 'Daredevil' as the helpful nurse to the vigilante Claire Temple, has revealed that 'The Punisher' is returning to our screens.
The original Netflix series was cancelled after two seasons on the streaming service to make way for Disney+. Earlier this year, the series was added to the Marvel catalogue on Disney+ alongside all of the other Netflix creations 'Daredevil', 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'Iron Fist' and 'The Defenders'.
And now that Daredevil is officially confirmed to be getting his own standalone series with Charlie Cox back as the masked vigilante (and is also set to appear in 'She-Hulk: Attorney At Law' later this month), attention is turning to the other characters from Netflix's foray into the Marvel Universe.
Jon Bernthal first starred as the problematic antagonist in season two of 'Daredevil' as the vigilante's newest threat. However, his close family ties resulted in Frank Castle doing a U-turn and 'The Punisher' spin-off series sees him uncover the real truth behind the attack on his family as he continues to navigate the grief he still suffers from.
Although Rosario Dawson featured in all of the other Netflix series, 'The Punisher' is the only one that Claire Temple didn't appear in. However, it seems like she's up for going back to the character, this time pairing up with Frank Castle.
Speaking during the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, Dawson let slip what she had heard the day before: "I found out yesterday that 'The Punisher' was happening again.
"So, I feel like it's my second chance, 'cause it was the only one of the shows that I wasn't in -- and I love Jon Bernthal. So, let's all make it happen collectively, guys."
Since her supporting role in the Netflix/Marvel series, Dawson was picked up by Disney to play fan-favourite Ahsoka Tano in the 'Star Wars' spin-off series 'The Mandalorian'. The character also appeared in 'The Book of Boba Fett' earlier this year and will lead her own series in the near future.
Expect more concrete details about 'The Punisher' revival series, should they be true, very soon.
