"I can't be trusted...!"
Rosario Dawson, one of the stars from Netflix's Marvel series' which follows street-level vigilantes such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, has admitted she made a mistake and that 'The Punisher' isn't actually happening.
Sure, Rosario, sure.
Yesterday, a video of the actor speaking on stage at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo was doing the rounds whereby she revealed that Jon Bernthal's character of Frank Castle/The Punisher would also be getting a revival series just like Charlie Cox's Daredevil. She said she had learned the information just the day before.
Overnight, however, Rosario has now backtracked on what she said, claiming the information she heard had come from fans while she was doing signings (and definitely not from Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige *wink wink*).
She posted on Twitter: "I can't be trusted…! Getting intel from fans during signings is iffy apparently. My bad. I get excited. Confirmation is key when you're told what you want to hear…"
Even if Rosario Dawson is telling the truth, it's clear that she's keen to join the MCU once again as Claire Temple, whether that be in 'The Punisher' TV series or not. With an 18-episode 'Daredevil: Born Again' confirmed for a spring 2024 release on Disney+, there's a chance that the helpful nurse to the vigilante might pop up in some capacity.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil is expected to show up in at least 'She-Hulk: Attorney at Law' and 'Echo' before leading his own solo series. Vincent D'Onofrio will also reprise his role as Kingpin, while rumours of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones making a comeback are swirling too.
Now that all of Netflix's Marvel creations have jumped ship over to Disney+, it's unclear if 'The Punisher' will actually get a revival as the series didn't prove to be as popular as the fan-favourites 'Daredevil' or 'Jessica Jones'. Bernthal, however, has expressed some minor interest in returning to the character in the future, telling THR that he's "only interested in doing it right" should a revival ever happen.
