If you took up chess after watching the Netflix series, this is worth a go.

The unexpected hit of the final months of 2020 has undoubtedly been Netflix's limited series, 'The Queen's Gambit'.

Starring Anya Taylor-Joy and based on Walter Tevis' novel, the Netflix series has been responsible for an explosion of interest in chess since it premiered. Indeed, it's caused the sales of chessboards and chess sets to surge over the past few months.

However, if you don't happen to have a chess set at home, but you have an internet connection - you're in luck. You can still play chess online, and even better still, you can play against Beth Harmon, the star of the series.

Chess.com has programmed seven different bots of Beth Harmon's playing style at different points in the series. For example, you can play against Beth at the age of 7, where she "still falls for traps and doesn't see certain types of tactics," all the way up to age 22, where she's set against the world championship.

The game is completely free and requires no sign-up or login, you can simply follow this link and play away to your heart's content. We've tried it on two of the settings and we roundly had our arses handed to us at the end of each game.
