Well, this is just delightful news

Some very heartwarming news arrives this morning for Disney+ subscribers as it looks like the two 'Paddington' movies are making their way to the streaming service.

The first 'Paddington' movie hit cinemas in 2014, charming fans and critics alike.

Its 2017 sequel was an even bigger critical success, securing a rare approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

A third movie based on the character is also in the works.

Ben Whishaw voices the adorable Paddington Bear in the series.

Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Peter Capaldi, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin starred in both films.

Imelda Staunton and Michael Gambon loaned their voices as Paddington's aunt and uncle

Nicole Kidman played the antagonist of the first movie, while Hugh Grant was the bumbling bad guy of the second.

The sequel also featured an unforgettable performance from Brendan Gleeson as Knuckles McGinty.

The eponymous character of the movies is a popular figure in children’s literature.

He first appeared in 1958's 'A Bear Called Paddington', followed by more than twenty books.

He's a little bear who makes his way from the jungles of Peru to London.

He captures the hearts of all he meets through his emphasis on morality and manners.

The news that the two movies are coming to Disney+ comes from whatsondisneyplus.com.

They report: "What’s interesting about these two films being released on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland, is that neither film are made by Disney and while Disney CEO Bob Chapek said they weren’t planning on licensing films for Disney+ internationally, over the past 6 months, we’ve seen more films and shows added to Disney+ from other studios.

"One theory is that Disney is trying to increase the amount of content made within the UK and Europe, to help with the European quota, which requires a certain amount of content to be created in Europe.

"It’s unlikely these films will be released in other countries, due to licensing differences."

Both 'Paddington' films will debut on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland on Friday 31st December 2021.
