We could be getting a female-centric Star Wars series

'Star Wars' movies are on hold right now. Thus if you can't get enough of the franchise, you might want to get a Disney+ subscription.

Almost all the 'Star Wars' movies of the main saga (bar 'The Rise of Skywalker', which arrives on the service later, but see where you can get it on demand now) and its spin-offs are on Disney+ in Ireland now.

It's also where you'll find the series 'The Mandalorian', which has proven to be hugely popular. Its third season is in development.

Lucasfilm are now focussing its attention on this and other TV shows when it comes to the sci-fi franchise.

While plot details are being kept under wraps for this latest one, we do know who its showrunner and writer will be.

Variety reports that Leslye Headland, the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series 'Russian Doll' (which she also directed multiple episodes for), has been set the task of developing the series.

Sources say it will be a female-centric series. It takes place in a different part of the 'Star Wars' timeline than other projects.

Disney+ are also working on an Obi-Wan Kenobi series. A show based on 'Rogue One' character Cassian Andor (played by Diego Luna) is in the pipeline too.
