"There's something in this place. It calls to you"
There's nothing better than good mid-winter horror to cosy up to and get thoroughly freaked out. 'Archive 81' looks to be just the ticket for that.
The upcoming series is based off a 2018 podcast of the same name which ran for three seasons. Co-creators Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell will serve as co-producers on the show.
The plot follows archivist Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie) who takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994. He finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Dina Shihabi) and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.
The trailer itself gets creepier as it goes on and it's clear to see there are some all-out horror elements to the show. So be prepared for some major jumps and screams as we delve further into the mystery.
The series also stars Martin Donovan, Matt McGorry, Julia Chan, Evan Jongikeit and Ariana Neal.
'Archive 81' makes its debut on Netflix on Friday, Jan 14. Check out the chilling trailer below.
