Arriving on Netflix July 8
Your next Netflix binge is here.
Starring Cate Blanchett, who also co-created the series, 'Stateless' follows the lives of four strangers from different backgrounds whose lives crossover while detained in an immigration centre in the middle of the Australian outback.
The six-part series is inspired by the real-life story of Cornelia Rau, who was unlawfully detained for 10 months down under, even though she was a permanent Australian resident.
Alongside Blanchett, the harrowing true-life tale will also see Dominic West ('Collette') co-star, as well as a huge Australian cast including Jai Courtney ('Jack Reacher'), Yvonne Strahovski ('Dexter'), and Asher Keddie ('The Hunting').
The series premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, and received largely positive reviews from critics and viewers.
The official Netflix synopsis of the limited series is as follows:
'Stateless' is a powerful and timely series about four strangers whose lives collide at an immigration detention centre in the middle of the Australian desert: an airline hostess on the run from a dangerous cult, an Afghan refugee and his family fleeing persecution, a young father escaping a dead-end job and a bureaucrat running out of time to contain a national scandal.
'Stateless' arrives on Netflix July 8.
