Starring John Cho, Daniella Pineda, and Mustafa Shakir, Cowboy Bebop is a live-action adaption of the globally popular anime show of the same name.
The official synopsis of the show reads: "an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka ‘cowboys,’ all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly. Spike Spiegel (Cho), Jet Black (Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them.”
The trailer itself is snappy and full of action and comedy. Starting out with a noir tone, it quickly jumps to 70's-inspired action and into full blockbuster mode.
The trailer and last week's teaser seem to be very faithful and similar in tone to the anime. This is specifically noting the music, action scenes and snarky back-and-forth dialogue between the main characters.
The 10-episode Netflix series is executive produced by André Nemec, who also serves as showrunner. The episodes will be an "expansion" of the original plot, rather than a retelling.
The original show is lauded as some of the most popular anime outside of Japan and specifically in the US.
The anime's original composer Yoko Kanno will be returning to provide music for the adaption.
'Cowboy Bebop' will be released on Netflix on November 19th. Watch the trailer below.
