It's not the Messiah, it's a show that's been cancelled.
Considering that Netflix keeps some shows going long past their sell-by date - looking right at you, 'House of Cards' - it's actually surprising when they cancel shows.
It just tells you how poorly received it has to be that they're not willing to give it a second season or failing that, how few people actually ended up watching it. Case in point is 'Messiah', a very mediocre show about... (sigh) well, the Messiah returning.
Needless to say, if you hadn't heard of the show, there's a reason for that - it was pretty terrible. The show had received almost universally poor reviews, only reaching 43% on Rotten Tomatoes and not even breaking through on social media.
The central concept of the show was kind of dull, the whole thing was pretty bland, and sure enough, Netflix has now dumped the series before it gets a second season. Actor Wil Traval, who starred in the series, posted the news on Instagram yesterday evening.
