'Building the Band' will see fifty musicians competing to form a band
We've had 'Pop Idol', we've had 'The X Factor', we've had 'Britain's Got Talent', 'America's Got Talent' and even 'Ireland's Got Talent'.
Just when you thought that the well had run dry when it came to mining reality TV for the next big thing in music, along comes another new format.
According to The Wall Street Journal, a new music competition series is coming to Netflix.
It' has a working title of 'Building the Band' and has been described as a mix of 'Love is Blind' and 'The Voice', as fifty musicians are competing for places in a band - with the twist being that the final line-up won't see each other until their first performance.
Before the line-up is completed, contestants can only judge each other on musical compatibility, chemistry and musical talent - but once they meet, it'll no doubt be interesting to see how style and aesthetics plays into the band.
With details still being ironed out, it's set to debut on Netflix in 2025 while another similar show is also reportedly in the works, with songwriters competing to write tunes for famous artists.
