Kat Coiro will direct and executive produce
The Jennifer Walters live-action series for Disney+ is moving forward with an impressive team at the helm.
The 'She-Hulk' series is still in its very early stages of development, one year after being revealed at the D23 Expo. Expected to round out Marvel's Phase Four of new superhero content over the coming years, the character of She-Hulk is the cousin of the Avengers green machine, Hulk AKA Bruce Banner.
Director and producer Kat Coiro, who has worked on the likes of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', 'Dead To Me', and 'The Mick' will lead the exciting project as executive producer. She's also lined up to direct six of the episodes. Late last year, 'Rick and Morty' scribe Jessica Gao was announced as leading the writer's room on the series - and basing it on the team already assembled here, 'She-Hulk' is going to be an interesting watch.
No casting announcement has been made for the franchise yet, but we're guessing that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner will at least have a brief role in the TV series - since the character of Jennifer Walters gets her superpowers from him. In the comics, the cousin of Banner AKA The Hulk has to get an emergency blood transfusion from him. However, her powers are much handier, in that she is able to keep her intelligence and personality when she's "Hulked-out" - much like the version of Banner we saw in 'Avengers: Endgame'.
'She-Hulk' is just one of Marvel's upcoming slate of comic-book related live-action series. 'Loki' is still on the horizon, with 'WandaVision' and 'The Falcon and Winter Soldier' expected to be the first series to arrive on Disney+ in the coming months (but were both delayed earlier this year).
Marvel's 'She-Hulk' series is set to premiere in 2022.
