Billy Dee Williams, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels and more are taking part.
Despite the fact that Disney now owns the rights and all the associated content with 'Star Wars', the real-life 'Star Wars Holiday Special' is still locked securely away in a vault, never to be disturbed, not unlike the Ark of the Covenant at the end of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'.
It seems strange, considering that just about everyone has moved on, Mark Hamill was cracking jokes about it as recently as a few weeks' ago, and Disney+ is always looking for new content. Perhaps as a compromise, the Mouse House announced yesterday that a LEGO version is now in production and will hit their streaming service next month.
'The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special' - the capitals on LEGO is important, seemingly - will see Rey attempting to make her way back home to Tatooine for Life Day, which was the central point of the original TV special and has even cropped up in 'The Mandalorian' and is celebrated at the live-action theme park 'Galaxy's Edge'.
Anyway, the voice cast for this will include Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian, Kelly-Marie Tran is back as Rose Tico, and Anthony Daniels will of course be voicing C3PO. Meanwhile, voice actors from the animated 'Clone Wars' series will be filling in some of the other roles. Matt Lanter and James Arnold Taylor will voice Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi respectively, while Tom Kane will voice Yoda and Qui-Gonn Jinn as well.
'The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special' hits Disney+ on November 17th.
