The Netflix series stars '13 Reasons Why' actress Catherine Langford
Yes, you read that right.
As the great woman on BBC News once said in regards to another general election in the UK: "You're joking - not another one!" Yes, there's yet another King Arthur retelling on the way - but this one might actually be worth your time. In the 'Cursed' trailer above, we can see that the gender roles have been reversed this time around, with Katherine Langford being the one to pick up the legendary sword.
Let's hope the series doesn't live up to its name, because it has the star power behind it to make it a worthy new TV series. Katherine Langford, known for '13 Reasons Why' and 'Knives Out' takes on the mantle as Nimue, a young woman destined to become a historic legend - and Arthur taking a back seat for once.
With 'Game of Thrones' finished up, and Netflix's 'The Witcher' underperforming in fan opinion, this could be a nice segway for an old-time female action hero to take over our screens.
The Netflix synopsis of the magical TV series is as follows:
Based on the upcoming book of the same name, 'Cursed' is a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother's death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
If the 'Cursed' trailer ticks all your medieval boxes, then be sure to tune into Netflix when it arrives this July 17.
