The series premieres this May

Netflix has given us our first glimpse of Ewan McGregor as the legendary fashion designer.

Ryan Murphy's next limited series hitting Netflix has come out left of field, and will be arriving in May. 'Halston' stars Ewan McGregor as the fashion designer who, after a tumultuous takeover of his brand, must fight to keep his name.

Real name Roy Halston Frowick, he rose to international fame during the '70s for his minimalist clothing designs for men and women, giving Europe a run for their money in terms of fashion. However, he ultimately lost his entire business during the '80s due to poorly made business decisions. He kept a very high profile friend's list, including Liza Minnelli and Andy Warhol, the first of which will appear in the series, played by Krysta Rodriguez.

Executive produced by Ryan Murphy, the series will also star Vera Farmiga, Bill Pullman, Kelly Bishop, Rory Culkin, David Pittu, Sullivan Jones, with Gian Franco Rodriguez as Halston's lover Victor Hugo and Rebecca Dayan as jewellery designer Elsa Peretti.

Here's the synopsis for the limited Netflix series 'Halston': "'Halson' follows the legendary fashion designer (Ewan McGregor), as he leverages his single, invented name into a worldwide fashion empire that’s synonymous with luxury, sex, status and fame, literally defining the era he lives in, 1970’s and ‘80’s New York — until a hostile takeover forces him to battle for control of his most precious asset… the name Halston itself."

'Halston' will premiere on Netflix on May 14.
