The mad-cap fantasy will return
Six more episodes of the end-of-the-world series is winging its way to Amazon Prime.
David Tennant and Michael Sheen will be reprising their roles as frenemies Crowley and Aziraphale for Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 'Good Omens' for season two.
Gaiman revealed the news on Twitter today, saying: "What glorious (and dangerous) trouble will our favourite angel and demon find themselves in this time?"
The first series of the dark comedy came in six parts, and was released in 2019, originally intended to be a limited series. It sees the demon and the angel begrudgingly team up in order to save the world from an impending apocalypse, brought upon by a young boy named Adam, the arrival of The Four Horsemen, and plenty other coincidental happenings. Along with Tennant and Sheen, the first series also starred Jon Hamm, Benedict Cumberbatch, Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, and Miranda Richardson.
Based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, it's unknown yet what the storyline of the sequel series could be - but it will be a continuation of season one. According to Gaiman's Blog, he and his former collaborator had mapped out a sequel before he passed away in 2015.
The acclaimed author said: "It’s thirty-one years since 'Good Omens' was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel.
"I got to use bits of the sequel in 'Good Omens' — that’s where our angels came from. Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with 'Good Omens', and where the story went next. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I get to take it there.
"I have enlisted some wonderful collaborators, and John Finnemore has come on board to carry the torch with me. There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next, and also, what happened before, to our favourite Angel and Demon. Here are the answers you’ve been hoping for. We are back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery, which starts with an angel wandering through Soho, with no memory."
'Good Omens' season two will begin filming in Scotland later this year. You can watch the first season on Amazon Prime.
