The film won Best Film and Best Director at the recent awards
An exciting new addition is coming to Disney+ in just a few weeks time - 'Nomadland'.
'Nomadland' recently won Best Film - Drama, and Best Director for Chloe Zhao at the Golden Globe awards.
It also received nominations for Best Screenplay for Zhao, and Best Lead Actress in a Drama for Frances McDormand.
McDormand plays Fern. Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, she packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.
David Strathairn co-stars, as do real-life nomads Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells, playing fictionalised versions of themselves.
The film has won a huge array of awards aside from the Golden Globes, including the Venice International Film Festival’s Golden Lion for Best Film and the Toronto International Film Festival’s People’s Choice Audience Award.
Various critics and publications deemed it one of the best films of 2020.
'Nomadland' will premiere on Star, the new general entertainment brand, launched on Disney+ on 23rd February.
It will be available to stream on Disney+ in Ireland and the UK from 30th April 2021, and comes to subscribers at no additional charge.
Additionally, the movie will show in cinemas in Ireland and UK once they re-open.
