Anderson joins Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth on Netflix's lush drama.
Yes, apparently Gillian Anderson from 'The X-Files' and 'The Fall' looks enough like Margaret Thatcher to play her in Netflix's lushly made drama, 'The Crown'.
Anderson will not, however, been seen in the upcoming third season, but rather the fourth season of 'The Crown'. The upcoming third season will take place in the '60s, with characters such as Camilla Parker-Bowles.
The fourth season, meanwhile, will shift into the '70s and will most likely cover the civil unrest of the decade, the miners' strikes, and the divorce of Princess Margaret from Antony Armstrong-Jones, played in the upcoming season by Helena Bonham-Carter and Ben Daniels respectively.
Thatcher, meanwhile has been played in the past by the likes of Meryl Streep and Andrea Riseborough in other movies and TV shows.
No air date has been set for the third or fourth season of 'The Crown', however it's understood that both seasons are made back-to-back, meaning that you'll most likely see Anderson as Thatcher some time in 2020.
Apropos of nothing, here's Frankie Boyle on 'Mock The Week' discussing Margaret Thatcher.
