So this is what she's been up to
The Netflix period thriller stars the 'Black Widow' and 'Little Women' actor alongside many more Irish faces.
Netflix has released our first look at Florence Pugh who will lead an all-star Irish cast in 'The Wonder'. The movie will be an adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s acclaimed novel and is the first from Netflix’s new Ireland and UK Features Slate.
Here's the picture of a post-famine Florence taking in the Irish countryside.
Ireland has certainly become a hotspot for Hollywood film crews this past year. Earlier this week, Florence uploaded a picture of the Hollywood sign from county Wicklow and went on to praise the "less traffic, greener hills, great Guinness" of the country.
'The Wonder' has been developed with the support of Fis Éireann/Screen Ireland and Access Entertainment, and is an adaptation of Emma Donoghue's novel from 2016. Donoghue's other famous book adaptation was 'Room', starring Brie Larson in an Oscar-winning movie role. Chilean director Sebastián Lelio (Oscar-winning movie 'A Fantastic Woman') will helm the project.
Joining Florence Pugh in 'The Wonder' will be Tom Burke, Niamh Algar, Ciarán Hinds, Elaine Cassidy, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Toby Jones, Dermot Crowley, Brían F. O'Byrne and David Wilmot.
The official synopsis of 'The Wonder' is as follows: "The Irish Midlands, 1862 - a young girl stops eating but remains miraculously alive and well. English nurse Lib Wright is brought to a tiny village to observe eleven-year old Anna O'Donnell. Tourists and pilgrims mass to witness the girl who is said to have survived without food for months. Is the village harbouring a saint 'surviving on manna from heaven' or are there more ominous motives at work? A psychological thriller inspired by the 19th-century phenomenon of the "fasting girls" and adapted from the acclaimed novel by Emma Donoghue.
'The Wonder' is scheduled for release on Netflix in 2022.
