The Netflix movie has been dividing audiences and critics
The star-filled cast of 'Don't Look Up' has drawn quite an audience, it seems - in spite the feature receiving a mixed reception from critics.
Directed by Adam McKay ('Anchorman', 'Step Brothers', 'The Big Short'), 'Don't Look Up' dropped on Netflix last Christmas Eve. It has proven a major hit for the streamer.
For those unfamiliar with the story, it follows an astronomy grad student and her professor who discover a comet is hurtling towards Earth.
They embark on a media tour and even meet the President in an effort to encourage people to take the threat seriously.
Except no one does.
'Don't Look Up' is led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
It also stars Rob Morgan, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill and Tyler Perry… as well as Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi), and Himesh Patel.
The satirical disaster movie has broken the record for the most viewing hours in a single week for a movie title on Netflix.
From December 27th to January 2nd, the film was watched for 152.29 million hours across the world.
Deadline reports that 'Don't Look Up' is also now the third most-watched Netflix title ever in its first 28 days after release.
It's just behind last year's 'Red Notice' or 'Bird Box'.
Watch this space though as it could end up beating both for the title.
Adam McKay tweeted that he was "straight up flabbergasted" by the record-breaking success of the movie.
