The series lands this July
The remake of the Tom Hanks movie from the '80s stars Josh Peck and a loveable, destructive, slobbery pooch.
Disney+ will be launching the reboot/sequel series of the Tom Hanks classic for a new audience this summer. 'Turner & Hooch' will once again see the age-old buddy-cop formula get a shake-up by pairing up a member of the force with a canine who has their own agenda.
This time around, 'Turner & Hooch' will see Josh Peck star as Scott Turner, the son of Detective Scott Turner portrayed by Tom Hanks in the 1989 film of the same name. Although he's alluded to in the trailer, we doubt that Tom Hanks is going to feature in the series - but you never know.
Since making his Nickelodeon debut on 'Drake & Josh' in the early 2000s, opposite Drake Bell, Josh Peck has taken on a number of smaller roles in TV series and film, including the voice of Eddie the opossum in the 'Ice Age' film franchise. 'Turner & Hooch' will be his first lead role in a series since he was a teenager.
Joining Josh Peck will be Carra Patterson as Jessica Baxter, Brandon Jay McLaren as Xavier Wilson, Anthony Ruivivar as Chief James Mendez, and Lyndsy Fonseca as Laura Turner. There are five French Mastiffs who star as Hooch in the series.
This is the second Disney+ series to be based on a movie or franchise and get the reboot/sequel treatment. The first of which was 'The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers' from earlier this year.
If you're feeling so inclined, the original Tom Hanks movie is also available to stream on Disney+.
Here's the trailer for the new series.
'Turner & Hooch' will begin streaming on Disney+ from Wednesday, July 21.
