Could we have a new 'Home Alone' to watch this Christmas?
Kenan Thompson, who is expected to play one of the burglars in this fresh take on the Macauley Culkin classic, provided a production update.
It might only be April, but we're getting in the festive spirit already; especially when it's anything to do with a Christmas movie classic. To be more precise, a Christmas classic reboot. According to one of the cast from Disney+'s upcoming 'Home Alone' reboot, the comedy is nearing completion.
Kenan Thompson, from 'Saturday Night Live', was cast in the Disney+ reimagining last year, alongside another 'SNL' alum, Chris Parnell. Nothing has been confirmed, but we're speculating that they will be playing two of the burglars attempting to get inside the McCallister household over Christmas. The original "Sticky Bandits"/"Wet Bandits" Harry and Marv were played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.
'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen' asked Kenan to give an update on filming, to which he replied: "It was a long shoot.
"It started in Canada and then got shut down and came back around because of the pandemic and stuff, so it's been very 'splotchy', I guess, as far as trying to get it done is concerned. But I think they're getting very close to finishing it."
Kenan added that he recently re-recorded some of the film's audio, which is "usually one of the last steps, so it's coming up".
This means we'll likely see the 'Home Alone' reboot movie premiere on Disney+ this Christmas, right? It's a safe bet.
Joining Kenan Thompson and Chris Parnell are Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney, who will play the parents of this new version of Kevin McCallister, played by Archie Yates, the breakout star who played Yorki in 'Jojo Rabbit'.
Comedian Ally Maki will also have a role in the 'Home Alone' reboot, which will be directed by Dan Mazer ('Dirty Grandpa').
