"They're going to have to sort of share me."
The actor is going to have quite a busy year in 2023, shooting two massive releases back-to-back. Whoof, we're tired just thinking about it.
David Harbour isn't just one of the most likeable men on our screens these days, he's also one of the hardest workers in Hollywood.
The 47-year-old has quite a busy year in 2023 as he's set to shoot the final season of 'Stranger Things' for Netflix AND also be part of the ensemble cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe theatrical release 'Thunderbolts'.
But all before that, he's got a festive release on the horizon. Chatting with Collider about playing a pretty bad-ass Saint Nick in the upcoming Chrismas film 'Violent Night', the topic turned to what's on the horizon for the star next year.
It turns out that both 'Stranger Things' and 'Thunderbolts' will be shooting in Atlanta next year around the same time, meaning he's going to have to split his precious time between the two shoots. Yikes.
He told the publication: "It's going to have to be a back-and-forth with me. They're going to have to sort of share me. And so it is kind of like, I don't know exactly how they're working it, but it's a week on, week off, two weeks on, two weeks off, something like that where I would go back and forth. They both are being shot in Atlanta.
"That may have also been structured in a certain way, but yes, it is helpful. So I can just literally shoot a scene in 'Stranger Things' and get in my car and run over to the Marvel scene to shoot a scene there, maybe."
Will this back and forth for the actor impinge on his acting abilities? We're hoping it's going to be nothing like that restaurant scene from 'Mrs. Doubtfire'. Given the last few seasons' storylines, we don't think the 'Stranger Things' characters would look too kindly on a big burly man with a Russian accent walking around Hawkins...
While we doubt filming will be as straight-forward as David Harbour says, the announcement has some fans worried about how much time his characters will get on screen. Jim Hopper, who is one of the fan-favourites from the supernatural Netflix series, has extremely close ties to Millie Bobby Brown's character Eleven and Winona Ryder's Joyce Byers (who shared a steamy scene together last season) so here's hoping his character development doesn't suffer with this busy schedule of Harbour's.
'Thunderbolts', on the other hand, will see his Russian character join a new group of mercenaries played by Florence Pugh (again, reuniting off the back of 'Black Widow'), Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Harrison Ford is also expected to join the cast, following his appearance in 'Captain America: New World Order' which leads directly into this title.
'Stranger Things' season five will be released on Netflix in 2024; 'Thunderbolts' has a release date of July 2024 attached to it.
'Violent Night' hits cinemas on December 2.
