If you loved the Netflix series, here are some films and series you can watch next

'Bridgerton' dropped on Netflix Christmas Day and many have either binged their way through the series already, or are making their way through it gleefully.

The show depicts the Bridgerton family and various acquaintances of their making their way in London high society. As previously reported, the series has ended up getting viewers all hot and bothered.

Whether you've completed watching the series, or are looking for something to cool off in between, we've six more recommendations for you.

Most are inspired by its costume drama genre, though we've a couple of others that are more tangential.

The handy thing is all the series and movies listed below are on Netflix now.

Pride and Prejudice

For many, the 1995 BBC adaptation is the go-to version of 'Pride and Prejudice'. It is, after all, the series that introduced the world to Colin Firth. And if that doesn't convince you to watch (or as the case may be, re-watch) the show, then this iconic scene from it should nudge you in the right direction.

Poldark

If it was the period setting and filth that made you fall for 'Bridgerton', then we've got one word for you: 'Poldark'. Its steamy scenes became renowned, while its star Aidan Turner became something of a sex symbol thanks to numerous topless scenes. The series follows the loves and lives of Captain Ross Vennor Poldark.

Sense and Sensibility

After 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Sense and Sensibility' is most likely Jane Austen's most renowned novel. Emma Thompson, who also stars in this beloved version, won an Oscar for her screenplay adaptation for the 1995 film. Ang Lee directs while Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman round out the fantastic cast.

How to Get Away With Murder

'Bridgerton' hails from producer Shonda Rimes and production company Shondaland, which was also behind 'How to Get Away With Murder'. While it has a contemporary setting, you'll find a number of tonal similarities between the shows. Oscar winner Viola Davis plays a law professor at a university in Philly who, with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot.

Jane Eyre

Moving back to costume dramas - and book adaptations - briefly, the 2011 version of 'Jane Eyre' is excellent. Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender give impressive performances as the literary icons of Jane Eyre and Rochester. Additionally, the direction of Cary Joji Fukunaga (who would go on to land the latest Jame Bond gig, 'No Time to Die') proves tense, taut and atmospheric.

Derry Girls

Again, 'Derry Girls' is a bit left of field when it comes to post-'Bridgerton' recommendations. But if you liked Irish star Nicola Coughlan's performance as Penelope Featherington, you're going to love her as Clare Devlin in the 90s Northern Ireland-set comedy series. Below you can watch one of her many funny moments on the show.
