What about Morris, eh?
Trevor Slattery AKA The Mandarin is set to appear in one of Marvel Studios' newest properties on Disney+.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has once again recruited talent back into the fold, with Ben Kingsley boarding the newest Disney+ series as part of Marvel Studios.
Kingsley famously played the role of The Mandarin in 'Iron Man 3', a character we were led to believe was Iron Man's latest supervillain nemesis. Alas, he turned out to be an actor being paid to read lines on screen with Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian being the true villain of the film. The paid actor, Trevor Slattery, next appeared in 'All Hail The King', a short film based within the MCU, followed by 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' alongside his new pal, a cute hundun named Morris.
And it looks like Trevor's story is far from over. Ben Kingsley will be part of 'Wonder Man', the newest Disney+ property headed to the streaming service. Announced by The Hollywood Reporter earlier this summer, the superhero is one of Marvel’s oldest characters also known as Simon Williams, who is an actor and stuntman. Originally a villain in Marvel Comics, he returned as a hero and helped found the West Coast Avengers team in the '80s.
Given both characters have a background in acting, it's possible that Trevor could be a guiding light or a voice of wisdom for the young hero - but we'll have to play the long game on this one. There's been no word on whether his little friend Morris will be back - but let's hope so.
In the comics, Simon Williams gained his superhuman powers due to radiation treatments from Baron Zemo - so could Daniel Brühl also return? We would love to see some more Zemo dancing.
No release date has been given for 'Wonder Man' yet, nor any other casting, but it does seem like it will be another comedy series more in line with 'She-Hulk', if the background team are to be taken into consideration; 'Shang-Chi' director Destin Daniel Cretton is the co-creator and executive producer of the series, with 'Brooklyn Nine Nine' writer Andrew Guest on board as the head writer.
Cretton is also lined up to return for the 'Shang-Chi' sequel film, with Simu Liu and Awkwafina expected to return. The director inked a multi-year deal with Disney following the huge success of his film last year, which introduced us to the very first Chinese superhero in the Marvel universe.
