We reckon those ever-youthful elves will be getting their kits off

How will fans react to this bit of source-changing info?

The 'Lord of the Rings' TV series is set to get all hot and bothered if recent casting rumours are to be believed. According to reports, the billion-dollar Tolkein adaptation has hired a nudity and intimacy coordinator for the Amazon Studios series.

Now, the series is based on Tolkien's works, which inspired the movie franchise we all know and hold dear to our hearts. But it seems that given how popular a certain other fantasy book series was for HBO, the studio is looking to tap into that for this fresh interpretation.

The news comes via the fan-dedicated 'Lord of the Rings' fan site TheOneRing.net, which rather hilariously writes: "But gather ’round the campfire and hear my tremulous words: 'Prepare for a newly-sexualized version of your favourite fantasy world.'

"It’s the equivalent of saying: 'Get ready to watch Anakin and Padme do something onscreen that will forever alter the way you see 'Star Wars'. Sorry about the sand. It gets everywhere.'"

Yikes. The fansite does have a point, it essentially is changing the source material to make it racier. But it could work out in Amazon's favour - just look at the success of 'Game of Thrones'.

However, this is all just a rumour for now, and has yet to be confirmed by Amazon Studios.

The 'Lord of the Rings' TV series has picked up filming once again in New Zealand, and stars a pretty unknown cast list. The first season is expected to arrive in 2021.
