'The Crown' star has bagged her next role
The acclaimed 'My Policeman' novel is getting a movie adaptation from Amazon Studios.
Based on the 2012 novel by Bethan Roberts, the 'My Policeman' adaptation will star Emma Corrin from 'The Crown' with Harry Styles from One Direction as the two main leads.
The novel is an alternative love story of sorts, involving a school teacher falling in love with a gay police officer. Set in the year 1957, when homosexuality was illegal, police officer Tom agrees to marry Marion, in order to keep his love life with his partner Patrick a secret. However, the love triangle turns sour, and Patrick's sexuality is exposed.
Emma Corrin, who will play Marion, has enjoyed monumental praise for her portrayal of the tragic Princess Diana in 'The Crown' season four. Just this week, the actor managed to receive both a Golden Globe nomination and a SAG award nod for the role.
While One Direction still remains on hiatus, Harry Styles has continued his music career while also dabbling in acting. His first role was for a minor part in Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk', while his next venture will be in the Olivia Wilde thriller 'Don't Worry Darling'. The movie was shut down a number of weeks ago due to the ongoing pandemic.
The role of Patrick for this adaptation has yet to be announced, but given the big names already attached, expect a recognisable face to finish off this love triangle.
Tony and Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage will direct 'My Policeman' for Amazon, with Academy Award and Emmy nominee Ron Nyswaner adapting the screenplay.
