The one-time boyband member slammed the awards ceremony earlier this week
The Grammys take place this coming Sunday, but it seems as if not everyone is looking forward to the music industry's biggest awards show.
The Weeknd shared his feelings last year when the nominations were announced (and he wasn't included), calling the process 'corrupt' - and now Zayn Malik has added his discontented voice to the fray.
On Tuesday, the former One Directioner tweeted 'Fuck the grammys and everyone associated," adding that unless you 'shake hands and send gifts', you will not be considered for a nomination.
Now, he has clarified his remarks by saying that his tweet referred to the 'need for transparency in the nominations process', while simultaneously alleging that the process allowed for 'favoritism' and 'racism'.
Malik's last album 'Nobody is Listening' was released in January.
His former bandmate Harry Styles, meanwhile, is set to play the ceremony on Sunday and has been nominated in three categories: Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.
