The war of words between Neil Young and Donald Trump just escalated.
Their beef stems from Trump's use of 'Rockin' in the Free World', which he has used at campaign rallies in the recent past. Young made no bones about his distaste of Trump's use of the song, but it later emerged that Trump had acquired a licence to use the song as he wished, with Young confirming: "Once the music goes out, anyone can use it for anything," A photo later emerged of Trump and Young together.
However, he has now come out all guns blazing, with an angry statement posted to Facebook that outlines the difference between licencing for commercial use and for use in public venues, as well accusing Trump's team of 'hurling insults' at him and posting the 'misleading' photo, which he says was taken when meeting potential investors for his music service Pono.
The post, entitled "YOUNG CONTINUES TO DENY TRUMP PERMISSION TO USE HIS MUSIC" was accompanied by a clip of Young playing the song, saying 'Fuck you, Donald Trump!'
