If you'd told Billy Corgan back in the heyday of Smashing Pumpkins that he would be performing a pop cover by a former child star in concert some day, he probably would have laughed you out of the room - as would his fans.
However, that's just what Corgan - or as he's known these days, William Patrick Corgan - did the other day.
The former Smashing Pumpkins frontman covered Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball', seemingly without any sense of irony, on acoustic guitar in Toronto the other night. He has, in recent years, expressed his admiration for Cyrus, saying "She’s a very good singer. So at least I can stand back and say qualitatively that she’s a better pop star than 99.99 percent of them." He also noted that "“If she called me and said, ‘Would you write a song with me,’ I would consider it."
A collaboration is surely on the cards.
