Contrary to reports earlier today which started that the cause of Amy Winehouse's death was from alcohol withdrawal, an inquest revealed that the reason for her passing in July was due to extreme alcohol poisoning and has been ruled "death by misadventure".
The inquest was told that she consumed large amounts of alcohol in the hours before her death and she was over five times the legal drink-drive limit when she died, her blood having 416mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The legal driving limit is 80mg.
When Winehouse was found in bed in her Camden home, three empty bottles of vodka were nearby. The inquest also found that no illegal substances were in her system, but the huge quantities of alcohol were sufficient to send her into a coma and stop her breathing. According to a pathologist, 350mg of alcohol in someone's system is considered to be a potentially lethal level.
