UK album sales figures have dropped in the UK for a seventh successive year. A report in the Guardian has stated that across the water fell to 113.2million in the last year, a drop of 5.6% from the previous year's totals. Meanwhile, digital album sales rose by a staggering 26.6% but this failed to offset the overall drop.
Adele's 21 was the biggest selling album in the UK last year, shifting over 3.8 million units, more than double the sales figures of 2010's biggest hit, Take That's Progress.
In what was a staggeringly successful year for Adele, she also bagged the most single sales, with 1.2 million copies of 'Someone Like You' disappearing from record store shelves.
