U2's new single, "Magnificent," has generally been accepted as the strongest track from their latest album "No Line On The Horizon." Perhaps that's why they've chosen to stream six remixed versions of the song on their website.
As well as remixes of the single by Pete Tong, Redanka, Fred Falke, and Adam K and Soha, the world's biggest rock band are also streaming a Justice remix of "Get On Your Boots," the official music video for "Magnificent," and behind the scenes footage of the making of the video on location in Fez, Morocco.
U2 have been consistently anti free music over the last number of years. This may be a clever way to get around the problem. They're also offering a limited edition double album, "U2 Medium, Rare and Remastered" (does what it says on the tin, I'd imagine), to entice new subscribers to their website. The album features recordings from sessions for 'The Joshua Tree', 'Rattle and Hum', 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' and 'How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb' as well as the usual b-sides and remastered early tracks.
