It was a good day for Tulisa Contostavlos today as the former N-Dubz member and X Factor judge won a five-year legal battle with Britney Spears and Will.I.Am.
The singer claimed she co-wrote their song Scream and Shout which was released in 2012 and topped the UK charts making it Britney's first number one in over a decade.
Tulisa wrote the track with Will.I. Am's producers and it was reportedly set to go on her album The Female Boss under the title I Don’t Give A Fuck. However, producers ditched her version and Will.I.Am went on to release it for himself and Britney, and Tulisa was not happy.
She sued Will, who admitted at the time: "Tulisa wrote to that song before I did – this is the truth. But the producers of the beat … didn’t want her to have it."
The courts also found that Tulisa's voice was even present alongside Britney's in the final released track. Ultimately, they found in favour of Tulisa who will now officially be credited as a writer and get 10% of the publishing rights.
All the profits that were made from the track have been frozen since 2012, and given its huge chart topping success in 24 countries worldwide, we'd imagine that is quite the sum of money.
