A treasure trove of unheard and unreleased Thin Lizzy material has unexpectedly surfaced today, the 26th anniversary of Phil Lynott's death, and will be released as a box set in June. The collection was described by Steve Hammonds, project manager of the box set, as "an absolutely stunning find".
"[These] are out-takes, unheard versions of Thin Lizzy hits and, most exciting of all, materials was recorded but never released at the time", said Hammonds.
He continued to say that, as Lynott was dying, he entrusted a large collection of tapes to a "Thin Lizzy fan" and they have been kept secret ever since.
Universal is now working with Lynott's Thin Lizzy bandmates to coordinate the release.
