Thom Yorke has finally given a name to his "supergroup" featuring Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Beck and R.E.M. drummer Joey Waronker and multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco.

Announcing the news via Radiohead's Dead Air Space blog, Yorke said "it has been decided that we call ourselves Atoms For Peace. hope you like the name.. it seemed bleedin' obvious." The name comes from a 1950s programme under US President Eisenhower to promote peaceful development of nuclear energy.

Atoms For Peace were already lined up to play this year's Coachella festival, and have now announced a series of dates in the US in April. Here's hoping they make it to Europe soon.
